Hi Clive.
Many thanks for your help,Great link but it appears to refer to the diesel engine.I just cannot find suppliers in U.K.for in my case a crank sensor,although without the proper softwear my mechanic cannot be sure of my problem (no spark )…

Blimey you had the MAF sensor swapped out in the rain or had it stopped raining by that point, that is always a sticking point with me working on the Elly, if its raining, the work doesn't get done.

FLASH ALERT WARNING
Hi guys, i was driving home from Gatwick airport on Monday in really bad and heavy rain. I was only doing 45-50 mph max due to heavy traffic too and the M25 was like a river in all 3 lanes. All of a sudden i felt a loss in power at the pedal and my engine warning light was repeatedly flashing!!!!!! " Oh Sh*t" i said to myself and limped into the services at reading. I left my 3.0 neo running on tickover and had a good look over her under the bonnet. All seemed fine and she ticked over lovely and revved up great. I decided to remove my Airflow sensor and was shocked to see it was wet through with water????. How could this have happened i asked myself??? but it had.Luckily i had my spare airflow sensor on board so i fitted it and all has been well ever since. Bizzarre i know but this needs to be flagged up so we all now know that it could be possible that these vehicles could suck in water in extream conditions as it was for me into the airflow metre thus causing power loss and engine…See More

E50 INSURANCE
Just renewed my insurance for the elgrand, was with lifesure for the last couple of years, they wanted £275 this year, so i gave gary at 2 gether (our preferd insurance) a ring and he came up with a better policy for only £259 with the member discount, so well done clive for arranging this

Nissan Elgrand
The first generation of the Nissan Elgrand produced from May 1997 - May 2002. Various engine combinations were available including the petrol VG33E, VQ35DE and diesel QD32ETi and ZD30DDTi. The E50 had a 4 speed automatic transmission and came in either 2- or 4-wheel drive. [edit]E50 model variations The E50 version of the Elgrand came in several model variations including: Caravan Homy Highway Star Rider alongside the more familiar and later used model names of: V, VG, X and XL variations.
The E50 & E51 Nissan Elgrand is a 7/8 seater MPV made for the Japanese Markets. In the UK there are currently only about 850 Elgrands.
